If you’ve found yourself craving the Bakewells, Eccles cakes, and pasties (for those unfamiliar, this is not a typo) that the recently defunct Tudor House used to offer, you’re in luck! Ye Olde King’s Head Bakery has opened across the street. While part of the King’s Head complex on the corner of Second St. and Santa Monica Blvd. in Santa Monica, the traditional English pastry shop has its own snazzy storefront on Second St. and is carrying the pastries from the same bakery that supplied the Tudor House.
Dude. You have just made this Anglo-Aussie extremely happy with this news…..MISSING PASTIES SOOOO BAD!!!!!!
Glad I could help! -TA
wow, this place is awesome. not only are the fish and chips a hit, just the whole vibe of this little pub is great. it’s not pretentious, they have an awesome happy hour (4-7 Wed-Sun), and the service i got was excellent.for those who like to do activities while they’re drinking, the king’s head has dart boards. they also have plenty of TVs hooked up in the bar area of the restaurant. but back to the food…the fish and chips are really phenomenal. it gets its reputation for a reason–the fish are HUGE. granted 17 bucks is kinda pricey for 2 pieces of fish, but consider it more like 5 or 6 or even 7 if you’re thinking of the mini pieces u get everywhere else. the batter is sooo good. the tartar sauce…sooo good. the fries are eh..but i didnt really care. fries are fries…still went down well with the beer we had.definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area or have friends in town visiting.
