Downtown Santa Monica is a flurry of restaurant activity right now: Wally’s is on the way, as is a new North Italia, and Carlo’s Bake Shop. Add to that list a new “All Day Eatery” going into a defunct jewelry shop at 331 Wilshire Blvd. There’s not much out there yet on The Gables, just an undeveloped website and Facebook page. It looks like they’re shooting for a Fall opening.

The Gables is now closed. They have a sign up on the door (on their FB page as well). It says their prolonged fight with the city of Santa Monica and the coastal commision weakend their business and they could not withstand the bumps in the road. That was quick, barely 4 months in business.
Really sad when you consider how much they put into that space… TRA
