A sharp-eyed reader (Thanks Charles!) spotted a notice on the door of the tiny former Antequera Bakery space at 1704 Ocean Park Blvd. in Santa Monica. French Boulangerie Patisserie Des Croissants Paris appears to be taking up housekeeping at the address. Des Croissants Paris has a presence at a number of local farmers markets, and a brick-and-mortar in Culver City. Proclaiming themselves as “proudly French”, they offer freshly baked artisanal croissants, pastries and sandwiches made with quality French ingredients.

They make the best croissants and other baked goods and am happy they are coming to my adjacent hood. However, now that the blocks of OP Blvd between 18th and 16th have destination worthy places to eat (not to mention the ever popular Bob’s Market), the parking situation is abysmal. Didn’t used to be that way, but that’s the trade off for getting better places to eat. The surrounding neighborhood is off limits to non permit holders anytime of day, which is a little unfair considering other Santa Monica neighborhoods like Main Street at least allow 2 hr day time parking before it becomes permit only after 6 pm.
