For some inexplicable reason, a whole lot of you have been closely following the progress of the latest custom-built pizza restaurant to enter the ring, The Ugly Pie Company at 2161B El Segundo Blvd. (next to Farmer Boys) in El Segundo. So here’s happy news: The Ugly Pie Company officially opened over the weekend. Promising a personalized pizza ready in 90 seconds, this is the first outpost in a (hopefully) fledgling chain. Back in December, signs went up on the space at 2161B El Segundo Blvd. next to Farmer Boys in the old fire station announcing an outpost of Long Beach’s Toppings Custom Fired Pizza. Looks like things have changed. Instead, a brand new venture The Ugly Pie Company is taking over the space. This will be their first restaurant with their eyes on eventual expansion. Look for a menu of custom pizza ready in 90 seconds, salads, Lavazza Coffee, and eventually beer and wine. The latest appears to be moving into one of the spaces (2161B El Segundo Blvd.) in the developing repurposed fire station on the corner of El Segundo and Nash in El Segundo next to the eternally under-construction future Farmer Boys restaurant.
