Kalaveras Quits Santa Monica

Well, I can’t exactly say this was a surprise…  While other locations of Mexican party spot Kalaveras are quite popular, Santa Monica’s branch has long struggled to attract crowds.  Perhaps this was because of the cursed location (it was previously the doomed home of Belcampo), or its proximity to perennially popular El Cholo across the street.  But whatever the reason, Kalaveras has abandoned this location at 1026 Wilshire Blvd.  I’ll keep watching the tricky space to see what may develop…

Kalaveras Bringing “Buenas Vibras” To Santa Monica

Ever since the Belcampo closed down at 1026 Wilshire due to a spot of trouble, I’ve been keeping my eye on the commodious space to see what would move in.  The mystery is now over.  Signs went up this week announcing a branch of KalaverasKalaveras offers an immersive El Dia de Los Muertos celebratory fast/casual concept with “Latin American culinary classics” and a focus on mixology.  They have locations across LA County, with a serious expansion in the works including Long Beach, Silver Lake, Newport Beach, and others.
