Buzzy Beverly Grove charmer Florence Osteria is opening a Downtown Santa Monica branch. Their website confirms it, and signs have recently gone up on the space at 413 Santa Monica Blvd. Florence Osteria boasts “authentic flavors of Tuscany”, while the sign on the front promises a focus on “pizza & vino”. They appear close to opening, but until then, get more details here.
There’s plywood up on one of the sixth-floor spaces, next to Macy’s, in the beloved shopping paradise Beverly Center. Written in clear cursive is the name Crust & Crave. Angelini Osteria, on Beverly Bvd., has been charming Angelenos for 20 years with their solid menu of consistently pleasing pizza, pasta, and “secondi”. Now the Good People of Pacific Palisades won’t have to drive so far for Gino Angelini’s celebrated fare. There’s plywood up on one of the spaces on Palisade Village‘s mini “restaurant row” on Swarthmore Ave. announcing the arrival of Angelini Ristorante & Bar. Looks like they’re shooting for a Winter opening.
It looks like local fave Cabbage Patch has dispensed their last sandwich at 214 S Beverly Dr. in Beverly Hills. Their website lets us know that they’ve closed their Downtown branch as well. That leaves one location left, in Marina Del Rey.
What’s going on at Panera Bread? Recently, the (newish) Westwood branch abruptly closed up shop. On a tip from a reader (Thanks Shawn!), I went to check out the (also newish) Beverly Hills location at 239 S Beverly Dr. Sure enough, a note taped to the front door explains that they have “permanently closed”. Could this indicate trouble for the popular bakery/sandwich chain?
