Winston Pies, Planta Cocina Coming To MDR

Thanks to a sharp-eyed reader, I went by the new Boardwalk MDR shopping center at 4625 Admiralty Way in Marina del Rey to see what was going on.  A small notice of nonresponsibility posted on one of the vacant shop fronts spills the beans that mercurial dessert specialist Winston Pies is moving in.  And right next door, in a commodious space in the same shopping center, work is fast and furious on a massive Planta CocinaPlanta Cocina is a concept from the rapidly expanding plant-based eatery Planta with a menu of burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and ensaladas.  (Thanks Trevor!)

Alfred Coffee Coming To MDR

Signs have recently gone up confirming that Alfred Coffee is indeed coming to The Boardwalk Shops at 4635 Admiralty Way in Marina del Rey.  The third-wave purveyor of caffeinated drinks will be joining eateries HiHo Cheeseburger, KazuNori, and UOVO in the sleek new waterside shopping center.  I’m not sure what is taking everything so long to open, but it looks like they’re close to throwing open their doors…

Killer Sushi Replacing Killer Cafe In MDR

The space at 4213 Admiralty in Marina del Rey, in the same building that houses crustacean specialists Killer Shrimp, used to be the home of their diner concept, Killer Cafe.  That closed a while ago, and the location has been undergoing renovations for quite some time.  Maybe about a year ago, I started hearing rumors that the address was to be converted into a sushi restaurant, but I could never find any evidence… until now.  Signs have recently gone up announcing the brand’s new venture: Killer Sushi.

Uovo Also Coming To MDR

And finally, this last bit of news about the coming attractions to the new development in Marina Del Rey… It almost appears that Downtown Santa Monica is cloning itself in the Marina: The latest to join the list of new eateries is none other that Jonathon Gold’s fave Italian restaurant Uovo, which is opening a location at 4635 Admiraly Way Suite 105. You may recall that the diminutive Santa Monica bolthole has a cult-like following due to their expertly sauced pasta that is flown in daily from Bologna.  Along with Kazu Nori and HiHo Cheeseburger, the dining scene in The Marina is about to get a whole lot more interesting.

HiHo Cheeseburger Landing In MDR

The other day I told you about a new Kazu Nori moving into the massive development along Admiralty in Marina Del Rey.  It’s about to get neighbor…  An ABC application is up announcing a new branch of HiHo Cheeseburger will be arriving to 4625 Admiralty Suite 109 soon. This will be the third branch for the minichain known for their much-admired “100% grass-fed and 100% grass-finished Wagyu” burgers.

Kazu Nori Coming To MDR

We’re beginning to get details about what’s coming to that giant new development that’s been slowly arising along the west side of Admiralty in Marina Del Rey. An ABC application has just gone up announcing that one of the new eateries will be a branch of hand roll experts Kazu Nori at 4635 Admiralty, suite 107.  Expect more details soon…

Trader Joe’s Lands In MDR

Everyone’s fave grocery store Trader Joe’s is expanding its footprint on the Westside.  I’ve been watching all the new construction along Admiralty in Marina del Rey to see what may develop.  A large notice attached to the fence around the new building on the corner of Admiralty and Mindanao Way lets us know that this will soon be a branch of TJ’s.  Don’t forget that there’s a brand new one going up on Wilshire and 23rd in Santa Monica as well.  The Beach Communities will be spoiled for choice…
