Sol-Agave Bringing “Authentic Mexican” To Santa Monica and LA

Santa Monica’s branch of Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern disappeared during the pandemic restaurant closures, leaving a gaping hole at 1733 Ocean Ave.  But a new contender is stepping forward to give the space a go.  There’s a banner off to the side of the patio announcing the impending arrival of Sol-Agave.  This will be the fourth location for the Mexican chain that started out as a food truck in in 2014 in San Juan Capistrano.  According to their website, it appears that they are also planning on a location at 800 W Olympic #A130, near STAPLES Center.  We wish them the best of luck.

Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern Now Open In Santa Monica

Almost exactly one year ago, I told you about an ABC license posting on the old La Cachette Bistro space at 1733 Ocean Ave. in Santa Monica announcing that a branch of popular West Coast watering hole Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern would soon inhabit the address.  It took a while, but they are now up and serving lunch, dinner, and brunch.  Check out their menu of “artisanal regional American classics” here.

Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern Coming To Santa Monica

On a tip from a reader (thanks DS!) I went to check out what was going on in the old La Cachette Bistro space at 1733 Ocean Ave. in Santa Monica.  An ABC application posted in the window informs us that the space, which has long sat vacant, will soon be inhabited by a branch of Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern.  It looks like they’ve got a way to go and there’s no word on an opening date, but until then, you can read more about the mini-chain here.
