Tapville Social Coming To El Segundo, Hawthorne

I’ve been telling you the story of how The Works shopping center, at 700 S Allied Way in El Segundo, has quietly been transforming into a food destination.  Here’s more evidence.  Fencing is up around one of the front spaces with banners that read “Tapville Social coming soon”.  Tapville Social has a handful of locations across the US and appears to be making inroads into SoCal.  It is known for rotating selections of craft beer, wine and hand-crafted cocktails and a menu of “American classics” ordered on tablets.  They are also opening a location 12520 Crenshaw in Hawthorne, near SpaceX.

“Vietnamese Pho” Coming Soon To Hawthorne

I recently noticed that a change is coming to the little strip mall on the corner of Inglewood and Rosecrans in Hawthorne.  Tacos El Chicano used to inhabit the space at 14201 Inglewood Ave.  But a sign recently went up informing us that a new, unnamed Vietnamese restaurant specializing in pho will soon be taking over.  They’ve done a fairly extensive remodel and it appears that they are very close to opening.

Taste Of Hawthorne Food And Music Festival This Sunday

With all the big “Taste of…” festivals in SoCal, it’s easy to overlook some of the smaller ones, but they’re often not without their charms… This weekend affords you the opportunity to go off the beaten path and discover a different world.  Taste of Hawthorne is this Sunday, May 19th from 10am to 6pm at the Hawthorne Airport at 12101 S. Crenshaw in Hawthorne.  A rather remarkable 40 plus Hawthorne and South Bay restaurants are represented, as well as food trucks, Food Network and Travel Network stars (i.e. local son Chris Cognac, the Food Network’s Hungry Detective), artisan beer and wine gardens, and entertainment headlined by local fave band Ozomatli.  And with brand-spanking new Eureka! Tasting Kitchen on site, what more could you want?  Another bonus?  Admission free.  Check out more at: tasteofhawthorne
