S Santa Monica Blvd. is a revolving door for restaurants. The space at 9527 S Santa Monica Blvd., most recently occupied by top-secret brioche breakfast place The Kind Ones, is no exception. The Century City Shopping Center is a flurry of activity lately. Half of the shopping complex has completely closed down to make way for the construction of an über-chic replacement including the much-anticipated West Coast debut of the mythic Eataly. But the rising tide doesn’t seem to be floating all boats. Iconic New York pie maker Joe’s Pizza has closed its outpost in the food court. Incidentally, signs posted around the mall indicate that there will be no less than 15 new restaurants in the sparkling new shopping center. I’ll keep watching…
Signs are finally up and construction is fast and furious on the new pizza concept from the folks at Joe’s Pizza, Pizza Compangia at 1551 Ocean Ave. in Santa Monica, although what you’re looking at here is actually the entrance at 135 Colorado Ave. It appears they’re running a little behind since they predicted a Summer opening, but by now we all know Santa Monica, so I’ll keep my eye on it… joespizza
