Sadly, it appears the reign of mint mojito coffee is coming to an end in Downtown Santa Monica. There’s a gracious notice on the front door of the Philz Coffee at 525 Santa Monica Blvd. that states their last day will be April 30, 2024. Not sure what happened to this branch of the Bay Area third wave coffee darling, but if you’re desperate for a cup of minty caffeinated goodness, check out their other locations here.

Congratulations Good People of Beverly Hills, mojito mint coffee is heading your way… Beverly Hills lost its branches of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in the company’s mass extinction event that occurred over a year ago when multiple SoCal locations closed (there are still a smattering of branches around). But the chain’s previous address at 233 S Beverly Dr. is destined to be a java joint once more. According to window paper, the Bay Area’s third wave darling, Philz Coffee, will be replacing the second wave CBTL at this location.

A great many of you have been eagerly anticipating the opening of the El Segundo branch of wildly popular San Francisco-based Philz Coffee, at 2191 Rosecrans Ave. Philz Coffee will officially throw open its doors and begin dispensing mint mojito coffees on Tuesday, April 24. It looks like Westwood’s popular Middle Eastern restaurant Sunnin Lebanese Café is expanding west into Santa Monica. A conditional use permit notice recently went up on the empty space just to the right of Philz Coffee at 525 Santa Monica Blvd. Suite 120 announcing the impending arrival. According to the notice, the hours of the new café will be 11AM to 11PM Monday through Sunday, and there will be beer and wine. No word on a planned opening date, but I’ll keep watching…
Recently, popular Bay-Area purveyor of coffee, Philz Coffee announced that it was intending to ride the Silicon Beach wave right into the heart of Santa Monica. And now we know where: Signs have gone up on the brand new building at 525 Santa Monica Blvd. (between 5th and 6th, north side of the street) announcing the impending arrival.
