CAVA Coming To Century City

After the renovation of The Westfield Century City Shopping Center a few years ago, this second floor space (next to where Shake Shack is today) was home to international mozzarella specialist Okica.  When they moved out, it was supposed to have been a branch of Matthew Kenney’s plant-based pasta joint Sestina.  That never materialized.  Now, plywood covering the tricky location is letting us know that this will be the future home of Greek/Mediterranean restaurant chain CAVA.

Obica Century City’s Unlimited Pizza Party Tonight!

Tonight (Wednesday, March 11th), at 7pm, Obica in the Century City Shopping Center is hosting a Giropizza Party.  What exactly does that mean?  For $30 (beverage and tax not included), you well get a slice of every pizza that rolls out of the oven until you cry for mercy.  Choices will include classic pizzas, as well as freshly invented varieties and dessert pizzas as well.  But you will need to call and make a reservation as space will be limited.  Call (310) 566-2452 just as fast as your fingers can dial to secure your spot.


Obika CC Launches Its Weekend Brunch With Free Mimosas!

Starting this weekend, mozzarella-specialist Obika in the Century City Shopping Center is launching its first ever brunch from 11:30am until 4:00pm Saturday and Sunday.  Promising a menu of “Old World and New World” dishes, they are upping the ante on the classics with a few new twists including pancakes as prepared by the ancient Romans, and French toast in the manner of Sardinian tradition.  And to kick off their inaugural weekend, they are pouring complimentary mimosas.  Make your reservation by calling (310) 556-2452.

Obiká’s Historical Wine Event

Fans of history might be interested in mozzarella specialist Obiká’s special event this Tuesday, July 16th at 7:30 in their Century City location.  In the 18th Century, a man named Phillip Mazzei from Tuscany in Italy brought to New England a cargo of sangiovese grape vines destined for the vineyard at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello estate.  Eventually a friendship formed between the two and Mazzei apparently heavily influenced Jefferson’s ideas on equality and rights.  Today, Mazzei Wineries is still going strong and the current CEO and descendent of Phillip, Francesco Mazzei will be present at the event honoring his illustrious ancestor and showcasing the family wines.  The four course dinner costs $48 and includes wine, but you’d better secure your spot as fast as your little fingers can dial (310) 556-2452.


Obikà’s Emilia Street Festa This Tuesday

This Tuesday, June 11th, Obikà in the Westfield Century City Shopping Center is throwing a shindig to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma.  The Emilia Street Festa, as they are calling the event, kicks off at 7pm on the patio and $40 gets you, “Unlimited tastings of differently aged Prosciutto di Parma, fresh focaccina, house-made grissini and artisanal breads, Grana Padano, Parmigiano Reggiano, Extra-virgin Olive Oil, Balsamico di Modena, and specialties from the kitchen [such] as lasagne, piadine, tortellini and sweet gnocco fritto.”  There will also be tastings of Lambrusco, Malvasia and Colli Piacentini from Ceci and Castello di Luzzano wineries.  How’s that for a deal?  To secure a reservation, call 310-556-2452 just as fast as your little fingers can dial.




Obikà’s Sicilian Wine Dinner

Taste Of Italy This Weekend

Looking for something to do this weekend?  The fourth annual Taste of Italy takes place tomorrow, Oct. 13th at 424 North Main St. in Downtown LA.  Benefitting the Italian American Museum of Los Angeles, the culinary and cultural event will feature performances, wine, and food stalls including participation by such names as: Obika, Il Fornaio, Academia Barilla, San Antonio Winery, Toscanova, Laconda del Lago, and a whole lot more.  Tickets are $60 at the door and include 10 “tasting” tickets.  Check out more at:


Obikà’s Salute To Lazio Dinner, May 22nd

 Obikà in Century City continues to explore the various regional cooking of Italy with a specially-themed dinner on Tuesday, May 22nd at 7:00pm.  This month, they will be highlighting the flavorful vegetables and pasta of the region of Lazio with a 4 or 5 course menu.  Wine pairings complete the experience of a romantic, leisurely dinner in Rome (via Century City Shopping Center).  Cost is $38 and $15 for the pairing.  Call 310 556-2452 for reservations.


Obika’s New Pizza Oven

Obika‘s snazzy new Italian pizza oven is now up and running and delivering amazingly crispy pies starting today in the Century City Shopping Center.  Obika’s CEO, Raimondo Boggia was kind enough to give a personal tour of the pizza kitchen.  While they’re still hard at work developing their pizza menu, look for beauties such as:  Verdure Grigliate (grilled eggplant, zucchini, radicchio, smoked mozzarella di bufala, parsley), Formaggi Morbidi (gorgonzola, stracchino, ricotta, mozzarella de bufala), or perhaps the Salmone e Ricotta (wild Alaskan salmon, ricotta, mozzarella di bufala).  Read more at

Obika Regional Wine Dinner This Tuesday

Obika in Century City kicks off a once-a-month evening focusing on various wine regions of Italy this Tuesday, January 17th.  This month’s dinner will highlight the wines and cuisine of Le Tre Venezie (Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige, Friuli Venezia Giulia) and will include a special 3-4 course menu with pairings.  There will also be special guests and discussions about the regions.  This would be a great way to familiarize yourself with the increasingly popular wines of Italy that seem to dominate every wine list lately.  Read more or make a reservation at:

Obika’s Newest Menu Addition

Obika (Century City, Beverly Center) is proudly rolling out the latest holiday addition to its menu:  buratta with persimmon carpaccio, pine nuts and arugula.  As you probably know, Obika uses only the freshest cheeses flown in from Italy three times a week.  Rich, decadent buratta coupled with local, organic sweet persimmons is a match made in heaven.  But you’ll only be able to get it through December so you’d better hurry…  Read more at

Obika, Century City’s New Summer Menu

Obika Mozzarella Bar in the Westfield Century City Shopping Center has made some new summer-y additions to its menu:  a variety of new bruschette from various regions around Italy including the Piemonte: mozzarella & roasted peppers, or the Lazio:  plum tomatoes and olives.  Additionally, the have a new Neapolitan Pizza, the cunzato pizzato.
