The Brothers Sushi Replacing Sushi Kiyono In Beverly Hills

In a town packed with powerhouse restaurants, quiet little Sushi Kiyono has been happily serving devoted locals for 27 years at 255 S Beverly Blvd. Sadly, that is about to come to an end. A gracious note on the front door cites retirement and says that the final day of service will be this Saturday November 22. The note also welcomes their replacement: The Brothers Sushi. An ABC application on the front confirms it. With locations in Woodland Hills, Santa Monica, and Culver City, The Brothers Sushi is the much lauded and wildly popular “high-end” sushi spot that offers seasonal “Omakase Chefs courses or Ala Carte options”.

Is Santa Monica Getting A Sister Restaurant to Woodland Hills’ Casaléna?

Santa Monica’s dining scene is white-hot right now. Yet more evidence: There’s renewed activity at 2820 Main St., a chunk of prime real estate that used to home to Santa Monica’s beloved gem World Cafe that closed about a decade and a half ago (after World Cafe, it was home to Areal for a period). The location has sat derelict ever since, but recently a new ABC application has appeared on the front. While no business name is listed, a close inspection of the application reveals some familiar names: Chloe, Brandon, and Tyler Makhani, the family team behind Woodland Hills’ Mediterranean charmer Casaléna. This property sounds familiar to Casaléna‘s concept of different dining rooms and a big outdoor space. I’ll keep my eyes on the project to see what may develop, but this is definitely exciting news.

Kabob Village Coming Soon To Westwood

It appears Westwood is getting a new Persian restaurant.  There’s window paper up at 1777 Westwood Blvd., once home to much beloved Indonesian institution Ramayani, announcing the arrival of Kabob VillageKabob Village has a couple of locations across LA and offers an extensive and solid menu of classics like shish kabob, koobideh, falafel, and tahdig.

Juicy Ladies Expanding To Santa Monica

It wasn’t that long ago when I told you about the closure of 35 year institution Bud’s Deli at 2727 Ocean Park Blvd, in the Sunset Park area of Santa Monica.  Wasting no time, the address is getting a new tenant.  There’s a notice in the window that this will soon be home to a branch of local fave Juicy Ladies.  Juicy Ladies is an “organic juice bar & cafe” with two other locations (Pacific Palisades and Woodland Hills) and a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu with vegan, vegetarian, paleo, and keto options that emphasises healthy food, community, and the environment.

The Brothers Sushi Now Dishing Fish On Montana Ave.

Ever since I first spotted the ABC application over a year ago, people have been demanding answers about an opening date for The Brothers Sushi at 1008 Montana Ave. in Santa Monica.  The Brothers Sushi is the insanely popular high-end sushi spot in Woodland Hills and folks were excited by the idea of getting a branch on the Westside.  I’m happy to report that they are now in soft opening. Their hours are: Tuesday through Friday 12pm to 2pm and 5:30 pm to 9pm, and Saturday and Sunday for dinner only from 5:30 to 9:30.  You can snag a rezzie by calling (424) 330-0270 or locating them on Tock.  You’re welcome.

Pickles & Swiss Bringing Premium Sandwiches From Santa Barbara To The Valley

I recently noticed plywood covering the front of one of the spaces in The Village part of Westfield Topanga & The Village in Canoga Park.  Large graphics reveal that Pickles & Swiss is moving in.  P&S is a premium sandwich shop with two locations in the Santa Barbara area.  They feature a menu of hot and cold sandwiches, build-your-own sandwiches, panini, wraps, soup, and intriguingly, something called “pickled popcorn”.

Juicy Ladies Bringing “Healthy Lifestyle” To The Beach Soon

With one location in Woodland Hills, “healthy lifestyle” experts Juicy Ladies are expanding to a free-standing building at 17361 Sunset Blvd. in Pacific Palisades, just one block from PCH.  Besides juices and smoothies, look for a menu of eggs, sandwiches and wraps, bowls, and vegan desserts.  No word on an opening date, but until then, check out their menu and read more here.
